A friendly reminder that, ‘Just putting up a website is not enough. It has to be able to attract the targeted customers.’ I have dropped this line many times in my previous articles too not because this is my favorite quote or something like that but because this is the truth of internet marketing.
Search Engine Optimization plays a vital role in driving the targeted customer to your website. But the same SEO if done in a wrong way greatly hampers your website optimization.
Still, unaware of what SEO is?

I did a lot of research and though I found out many sites that pointed out the SEO mistakes still I thought of listing some of the most common ones for my readers to avoid. After all you learn from your mistakes.
- Wrong selection of the title – The title should be unique and attractive as it is the first thing the search engine crawlers encounter when they visit your web page.
- Wrong selection of the keywords – A web page is usually optimized for certain keywords. If the keyword selection is bad, then all your efforts to attract the targeted customers will go down in vain.
- Wrong selection of the niche – You have to know which niche you are targeting. With wrong market selection you’ll be choosing wrong keywords and this will lad to misplaced search engine campaigns.
- Wrong or insufficient content – The content has to be unique. Duplicate contents hamper your SERPs. Also, the content has to enough and worthy for your targeted niche.
- Use of excessive keywords – There is a fallacy among people that use of excessive keywords increases their chance of getting ranked high. Well, in some search engines it can get you blacklisted.
- Wrong linking strategy – There is again disbelief that linking increases your ranking. To some extent it is true but excessive linking in wrong way (buying links, linking to wrong niche) makes a negative impact in your ranking.
These are some of the most common SEO mistakes that I felt I need to focus on but these are not all. There may be numerous others too. So, it’s always a better thing to try avoiding these mistakes during SEO. Content plays a vital role to rank better in search engines. “Better the content, better you’ll rank in search engine” – Well, it’s not as simple as that…there are many other things involved but the worth of content is also very big. The problem is that the internet is growing into a humongous giant. Millions of sites/blogs are adding up everyday and there is a big possibility in duplication of content as people may feel that contents don’t matter a lot and no one is going to care if the content is unique or duplicate. But as I already mentioned they do matter and duplicate contents hamper your site a lot in terms of search engine ranking. Then where in the hell does the unique content come from? The answer is your mind. But many people don’t like to waste their brain thinking over some stupid content. Again there are professionals who you can hire but but but but but….you have to be able to pay them handsomely which most cannot.
