If anybody out there is a going to or even planning to buy a touch screen mobile phone, then let me alert you on the first hand before you fall into it’s the shiny and sleek look. Don’t Buy It!!! Unless you’re too rich to spend few hundred dollars like a penny - Don’t Buy It. I know it’s a strict advice but believe me you will regret later. How I know it? I’ve been through it and by God it’s not worthy.

I bought Sony’s 8 GB touch screen W960i walkman phone just a few months back. Before I bought it, I had written a post about W960i too comparing it with Nokia N95. I thought the sleek and thin design along with 8 GB memory card and more than that touch screen to add trendy feel was a better option. But then I didn’t know at that time that I was making one of the biggest mistakes of my like.

A couple of weeks ago, the touch screen just stopped working. I didn’t drop the phone anywhere. I was working fine the other night but the next morning I could click or navigate from touch screen. I was like what the hell’s going on. I restarted my phone many times but it was still the same. Then I tried googling it out in the web where I realized what a big mistake I had done. I found so many people facing the same kind of problem especially with the touch screen. Their phones also freezed all of a sudden and there was no other alternative than changing the touch screen which cost few hundred bucks. I tried several solutions like clicking the black button like thingy below the battery pack, I went to a mobile shop and checked the wiring too but all in vain. I thought a master reset would do the trick but the “jog wheel” alone just couldn’t navigate to the “OK” button on the left side of the screen. I still haven’t lost my hopes and am still looking for a solution other than changing the touch screen. Any type of suggestion is appreciated.

And I don’t mean to be too much out of fashion but now I really think that there should be a full navigational system even in touch screen mobile phones.

It’s been what like about 3 to 4 months and finally the wait is over. The great news for the folks who love to carry iPhone 3G but hate to use their authorized mobile network has arrived. The iPhone Dev-Team has finally done what has been said impossible once. They have hacked the iPhone 3G for any network within the 4 months of its release. The official release is yet to come but they seem pretty confident about what is being said. I’m sure the iPhone manufacturer’s jaws must have popped out of their mouth when they heard this news. I’m so eager to see their reaction on 31 Dec, 2008 when the hack will be released. For now the team seems to be busy packaging the application (formerly codenamed “yellowsn0w”) into a user-friendly application PwnageTool and QuickPwn which will allow for an unlock of the 3G iPhone. I have one more thing to say to the iPhone manufacturer – Dude, you’ve been busted. Hahahah. Ohhh !!! Am I being too harsh???

The wait is over and July 11 is today. Today Apple’s 2nd generation iPhone 3G will be released in dozens of countries worldwide. The launch started in New Zealand and Japan on Friday. The first to get the opportunity to get this so called revolutionary device were the New Zealanders when reportedly three stores opened the sale just after midnight. The Japanese were the second who followed just after a short while. It’s releasing in several other countries today and in many others soon. Right now it will be available only in Apple Retail Stores and AT&T stores.
I haven’t got the chance to get a close look at this much-hyped iPhone 3G but rumors tell that this is lighter than the first gen one and is twice faster while the price is just $199 (half the price of the 1st Gen iPhone). I’m sure the buyers of the 1st Gen must be banging their head on the wall. Anyways Apple products are always overestimated but later they go puff. Hope the same doesn’t happen with this iPhone too. Ahh!!! I forgot one thing. Congrats to Apple on the release on iPhone 3G and best of luck on it’s sale.
