Web has become the most popular way of selling anything whether it’s a product or any kind of services. Also it’s one of the fastest and easiest medium to communicating any information to the whole world. So, putting up a website is an obvious choice from people if they want to sell anything or provide information. But if you think that just publishing a website in the web is going to be enough, then you’re absolutely wrong. It’s just the beginning of a long process.

Web designers and developers are just people who design and develop a website. What goes on with the website in the world of internet is none of their concerns; frankly not even in their hands. You website has to compete with millions of other websites of similar niche. Your website has to be convincing enough for people to buy what you are selling. But for that also first of all your website has to attract visitor which is the toughest part of all. For this you need to effectively do the marketing of your website and the product or service that you are selling. Design and look and feel of your website also plays an important role. SEO specialists and Internet strategists spends years seeking the answer to “How to attract traffic” to a site and still it’s a big mystery.

A few days ago I struck upon TheWorkingWeb.com, Internet Strategy Consultant cum Web Architect. They are selling and e-book “Website Development Best Practices” which is said to be the findings of decades of knowledge, efforts and experience. I read about them, went through the bio, checked out their services and resources, found it pretty convincing and I am thinking of purchasing it. The original price for it was $749, but they are offering a special price of $449 for a limited time being and you also get “PHP Coding Standards” as a bonus. If anyone else can suggest me any other best practices in web design related stuffs, then it’ll be highly appreciable. Till my next post, so long.

Well, if you ask people why they surf over the internet there may be millions of answers you might get. The most probable answer is because they are looking for something specific or just anything in random. That something might be just some information or it might be a product or even some kind of service. People browse over the net day and night to find the answer to that something. And who put those answers in the internet? The answer is “we”. We all contribute over the internet to give answers to each others search; some directly and some indirectly. How? Thru our websites, blogs, forums, etc.

I don’t know I might be going a little off-track but what I mean to say is that the answer to people’s reason for surfing over the internet is hiding somewhere beneath the content of some website or blog or in forums. And people visit all those sites and blogs not because those websites have hundreds of incoming links or because they rank on the top of the search engine. They visit them because they feel that it has what they are looking for. It is also the truth that there are millions of web sites out there and to know about your website even for the one time is a hard thing. What people usually do is, they go and search over search engines for something and if your site is better optimized for that search, only then they might struck upon your site even though it has good content. This is the bitter reality behind search engines. But in the same place if the content is not good then it’d be very difficult to optimize the site. Also if people don’t get what they are looking for, then they won’t visit it again.

Content Is King”- this is the golden rule of SEO. One way or another if your content is not worth reading, you won’t get good SERPs, you definitely won’t rank better in search engines and your wont get noticed in the internet. But you can’t just put whatever content and expect people to buy it. You have to write original the content and target it to a specific niche. The more diverse you try to be, the more it’s going to be difficult to reach to people. The content also has to be interesting along with informative. How you present the information also counts. Another thing one has to think over before publishing the content is spellings and grammar. The content has to be readable by the readers. If you’re trying to say one thing and the readers are getting another thing, then it’s a major blunder and you don’t want that to happen. So, do read it once again before publishing. I suggest you write your own content. Even if you are not a professional, your writing can get well with more practice and revision. Or if it’s very difficult, you can always hire a pro-writer that will get the job done. Once published, it is ready for optimization; and with good content and optimization, it will rank better in search engines.

One more thing, people often believe that a good web design also play an important role for attracting people. To some extent, it might be correct but it’s nowhere related to increasing your SERPs. Still as there is a saying “Your first impression is your last impression”, a better won’t do any bad. There is a website design company in UK called TopClickMedia.co.uk that you might want to check out if you want any services regarding web designing, development and SEO as well. Hope, this content was worth reading. So long!!!

I am also into Search Engine Optimization and internet marketing a little and I know how important incoming “links” are for a website to have a good SERP. But I see in forums and many even contact me personally and people (especially newcomers) are taking this “inbound link” concept in a very wrong way. Just because you want incoming links for your website, it’s not a good idea to just participate in any link exchange programs or buying links from whatever websites and blogs you run upon. Doing this you might get the incoming link but it’s not going to matter at all to drive traffic to your website or rank you better in search engine. Search Engine Optimization might seem like an easy deal for many but believe me it isn’t. Driving traffic to a website is a real tough job.

Search Engines loves natural link or organic link; link that goes in a flow with the content or theme of the site or page; that seems to have been put there because it was needed not because it was paid for. So, you can’t just go on and buy on links in any type websites and blogs and boost up your SERPs. There are right ways to do it.

seo-link-buildingjpg.jpg

One of the most effective and popular ways to build organic link is through contextual links” or “in-content links“. But again remember, the link has to be relevant to the topic or content of that page. One of the trends that I am seeing these days is that in the name of building in-content link even if the link is of different niche than the website or a blog post, people put a small paragraph somewhere in the content with that link which actually just goes with that later added paragraph than the whole content or theme of the site. This is one of the wrong ways of building links.

As I already mentioned before, a link should be placed in a site or in a content a way as if it was put there because of a necessity rather than because it was paid for. Submission to appropriate category in directories is also a way you can build quality inbound links. There are number of free as well as paid submission directories where you can submit your links. Social bookmarking and article submission can be options too. You can also buy link in the blogroll or sidebar and footer or websites and blogs but that mostly give a hint of being bought rather than natural look. You can do this all by yourself but its takes a lot of effort and dedication to do this all in a proper way. Better if you have a little money to spend (which normally companies have), hire a Link Building Service provider that will get the job done.

drevil.jpgYesterday, I was checking out the threads in V7N’s forums and there I saw a thread titled “Facebook is Google’s greatest threat?” I thought for a minute and then I gave it a thought again and thought – What rubbish? What a fool to think like that? How in the world can you compare a Social Networking Site with the king of internet Google? Makes no sense at all.

I know Facebook’s driving a load shit of traffic lately and many advertisers and marketers are shifting to Facebook but its traffic is in no way comparable to what Google gets in a day. Marks making a load of cash too but “Can he retain it for long?” is still a question. Microsoft is spending a lot on it (Gates bought the 1.6 percent of Facebook’s stake for whooping $US240 million) but that’s merely just useless try to get Google down from the throne. Google might start a social networking site itself, who knows, it might buy out Facebook too.

promotion itemsSite business promotion is an important aspect of marketing strategy for the promotion products, promotion gifts or promotion items. All the effort that have been putting in creating the web site is hopeless if the web site is not popular and does not have any traffic.

It is not a difficult task to make the website popular. There are four methods to promote the site. Among them, the first method to site promotion is to put the website ad on a high traffic web site and this will give advantage in promoting the website.

There are lots of search engines. The company can submit the website to the various search engines. This is the second method to site promotion. The third method is to place the website ad on the forums or blogs. By doing this, people will notice about the website. The forth method is to write articles and send to the articles directories.

chicago-search-engine-optimization-chicago-seo-digital-third-coast-internet-marketing_1214504662949.png

I love being a critique…point out things in a product or service which I find need attention. Some may think that it’s become my habit but I don’t mind them at all. My views are strictly for the betterment of the product or service. At least I think so.

Anyways, today I come through a SEO service site of Digital Third Coast and I couldn’t help write this post. I went through their site thoroughly. Yes, I read all what they had to say about what they can and are able to do for those who hire their service but the one this that crosses my mind is that there are so many already established SEO and Internet Marketing Service out there who have already built a reputation among people and who rank well in the search engine for keyword such as SEO, Search Engine Optimization, Internet Marketing, SEO service, etc. So, my question is that will this newly established Chicago Search Engine Optimization company be able to survive the fierce world full of competitors and will it firstly be able to SEO its own site to rank on top in major search engines like Google, Yahoo, MSN, etc. for its major keywords before promising other they can and will rank them well. Because only after that will this company be visible to those who seek for SEO service on the internet. I guess they too might be banging their head to answer this same question.

One thing that I admire though is that you can see this site in the first page for the keyword ‘Chicago Search Engine Optimization’ which is a big achievement for a newly established service but still they have a long way to go if they want to survive the heat of SEO.

professinal-website-optimization-firm-offering-seo-services_1211007743875.pngTime again have I’ve been mentioning about the importance and benefits of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Internet Marketing to my readers. It won’t be wrong if I say that SEO plays one of the vital roles in attracting targeted customers to a website.

Few days ago I wrote about how you can avoid some common SEO mistakes and optimize your website yourself. Today, I’ve come up with a review of a website that is very useful for those who can’t do Search Engine Marketing (SEM) by themselves.

The site provides you with all the professional help you need regarding online marketing services (SEO, PPC advertisement, Link Exchange, etc). Led by the CEO Punniya Kumar, SEO Edge has a team of expert professionals in their respective domain who will give you complete and reliable SEM information online.

professinal-website-optimization-firm-offering-seo-services_1211007570140.png

Objective: To provide people with a means to get reliable SEO related news, tools, reviews, white papers and resources all at one place free of cost.

List of services that it has to offer:

  • Complete Ongoing Search engine optimization services
  • Keyword research and on-page optimization
  • Link buying services
  • PPC management services
  • Reciprocal and One way Link building services
  • Social Media Optimization
  • Usability Analysis & Reporting

They are modest in their work. They don’t guarantee that they will rank your site to top positions for certain keywords in certain amount of time as only the search engines can do that. But they sure will try their best to help your site rank better in the search engines. The only drawback that I found with SEO Edge is that currently they only provide optimization solutions to websites with English content. For more details, you can browse through the site SEOEdge.com or you can even call in their toll free number.

seo_web_marketing.jpgA friendly reminder that, ‘Just putting up a website is not enough. It has to be able to attract the targeted customers.’ I have dropped this line many times in my previous articles too not because this is my favorite quote or something like that but because this is the truth of internet marketing.

Search Engine Optimization plays a vital role in driving the targeted customer to your website. But the same SEO if done in a wrong way greatly hampers your website optimization.

Still, unaware of what SEO is?

Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the volume and quality of traffic to a web site from search engines via “natural” (”organic” or “algorithmic”) search results for targeted keywords.” - Wikipedia

I did a lot of research and though I found out many sites that pointed out the SEO mistakes still I thought of listing some of the most common ones for my readers to avoid. After all you learn from your mistakes.

  • Wrong selection of the title – The title should be unique and attractive as it is the first thing the search engine crawlers encounter when they visit your web page.
  • Wrong selection of the keywords – A web page is usually optimized for certain keywords. If the keyword selection is bad, then all your efforts to attract the targeted customers will go down in vain.
  • Wrong selection of the niche – You have to know which niche you are targeting. With wrong market selection you’ll be choosing wrong keywords and this will lad to misplaced search engine campaigns.
  • Wrong or insufficient content – The content has to be unique. Duplicate contents hamper your SERPs. Also, the content has to enough and worthy for your targeted niche.
  • Use of excessive keywords – There is a fallacy among people that use of excessive keywords increases their chance of getting ranked high. Well, in some search engines it can get you blacklisted.
  • Wrong linking strategy – There is again disbelief that linking increases your ranking. To some extent it is true but excessive linking in wrong way (buying links, linking to wrong niche) makes a negative impact in your ranking.

These are some of the most common SEO mistakes that I felt I need to focus on but these are not all. There may be numerous others too. So, it’s always a better thing to try avoiding these mistakes during SEO. Still, if you think you are not the right person to do this, then you can always seek for a professional help to do SEO of your website.
