blue-ray-vs-hd-dvd.pngIt’s been an interesting battle of DVD format between HD-DVD and Blu-Ray. The result was out and as expected Blu-Ray has knocked out HD-DVD out of the competition. Blu-ray is king now and the next-generation optical disc format.

Blu-ray Disc (also known as Blu-ray or BD) is an optical disc storage media format. Its main uses are high-definition video and data storage. The disc has the same dimensions as a standard DVD or CD.” - Wiki

First of all, congrats to Blu-Ray for its achievement. And now moving on to what I was really about to say. As the winner has been declared, I think it’s time to buy blu ray players probably. I mean why still stick to DVDs and HD-DVDs when it’s been made clear that Blu-Ray is far superior and the future of format. There is absolutely no comparison between Blu-Ray and DVDs in anyway. Even its foremost competitor HD-DVDs has lost to its huge storage capacity, speed and more support from movie studios.

HD-DVD Optical disc storage capacity:

  • 15 GB (single layer)
  • 30 GB (dual layer)
  • 51 GB (triple layer)

Blu-Ray Optical disc storage capacity:

  • 25 GB (single layer)
  • 50 GB (dual layer)

7825.jpegBlu-ray Disc includes support for multiple layers so that it’s later expandable to double or triple capacity. Also Blu-ray is backwards compatible with DVD; means all of the current Blu-ray players and future models will be able to read and upconvert current DVD formats. The only hurdle for now is the price which soon will be reduced comparatively to DVDs and DVD players. After that I don’t there will be any second thought regarding bringing buy blu ray players to our home. For PC users also there is good news. BD-ROM (read-only), BD-R (recordable) and BD-RE (rewritable) drives are already available in the market. So, those who want to experience the technology with your own eyes, grab your Blu-Player soon before something newer comes in the market to replace it.

I’ve been telling a lot about how internet is growing in size lately and how millions of websites are being launched everyday. Every business house or a person has or is on its way to publish a website. Also, the common trends nowadays are mobile sites often called as WAP (Wire Access Protocol) sites. Mobile site are similar to websites but as they have to be viewed in mobiles and PDAs, their size is reduced to fit the screen of the cell phones. Of course your mobile has to be WAP enabled and then only you can browse the pages from any corner of the world.

Even for people who are into web-designing, it might be confusing on how to make a WAP site. What special programming skill is needed (WAP sites are written in WML-Wireless Markup Language)? How to make the page appear full screen on every mobile and things like that? Well, programmers might read the syntax and create such site but for novices it might be a little difficult. There is a solution though for all this - Mobilemo which has come up with an innovative, user-friendly platform enabling people to create and manage their very own mobile sites the way they like it.

setup-page.gif

The site is very interactive, easy to use, with each step briefly discussed and with lots of possibilities towards design and innovatong making it effortless for even a newbie to create a mini-website that actually reflects your interest and personality for your mobile phones. But though the site is simple, its end products are not. Your mobile site doesn’t have to plain text WAP site. The customizable color schemes, background templates, image insertion and other tools available here make sure that your mini-site is as attractive and flashy as web pages that one sees over the PC.

Mobile sites are the new ways to express you intentions, advertisement, promotions and marketing. So, its better you go with the flow before you’re behind everyone else. Start with something really small for now, think big for future.

web.jpgThere’s really need for someone who speaks out truth loudly in today’s world where forgery and biasness has taken over every bit of good that is left. There are very less number of people who are bold enough to speak the truth whether it’s sweet or sour.

Nowadays, there are millions of websites launching day by day. Finding the web hosting solutions for publishing those sites is a very complicated task. There are endless results to your search for the best hosting provider and all those boast to be better than the rest. Price is one of the most important factors that everyone looks at but many think that with low price comes poor quality and service. The best way I think to differentiate between them is through reviews from those who have really used the service. Most of the time we see that sites keep only positive (biased) reviews which don’t help much; instead they confuse the customers even more.

webhostinggeeks-logo.gif

Luckily, WebHostingGeeks.com doesn’t do so. This site is fully dedicated to providing real and unbiased customer reviews of major web hosting companies. Not only do they collect web hosting reviews, they also make sure that the reviews are unbiased and customers point out the negative aspects of the hosting services as well. You can check out for yourself that they are not all positive reviews. It’s really easier now to decide which actually the best option for you is (different people have different criteria though). They also have web hosting articles which might be handy for you while getting to know more about web hosting and also while making your final selection. Just feel free to browse through the pages and gain as much information as possible before making the final decision. Sincerely, hope that this information was helpful.

It’s a little bit out of the track but today I just decided to blog about another blog … a new start. Still, I’m keeping everything under technology and computer stuffs. I don’t want to ruin my niche writing about something really stupid like some credit card, payday loans or some other things that my readers don’t prefer to read about in my blog.

stylpe.pngActually, I struck upon this blog by Stylish Web Design as I was looking for some information on user accounts in Windows Vista because I was much used to Xp previously and I had to configure User Account Control in my Laptop which has Vista as its operating system. This techno design blog was a big help to me and I couldn’t help refer this blog to my readers as it’s all about sharing the knowledge one has with others who need it, isn’t it? It has really got some good stuff on Web designing, Internet, Programming and other technology related stuffs. One of their posts on spyware community was also very useful. Do read it too.

It’s not that old blog though; started off just fresh this year on January. They are updating the blog frequently with news and reviews in tech crunches. So, if you are a tech freak then do check it out. If you like what you read you can even subscribe to it for latest updates.

dsw_300x3001.jpgFor those who are my frequent readers and who have read my previous post on the’ Offers on VPS at VirtualServerWarehouse’, they might remember that I mentioned a little about Dedicated Web Hosting at the end of that post. I didn’t just drop those few lines accidentally but because I knew that I had to write a post on dedicated hosting too as VPS (Virtual Private Server Hosting) is not enough for some websites/organizations who need to have full control over the server, get huge amount of traffic and need to use a lot of bandwidth.

“A dedicated hosting service, dedicated server, or managed hosting service is a type of Internet hosting where the client leases an entire server not shared with anyone. This is more flexible than shared hosting, as organizations have full control over the server(s), including choice of operating system, hardware, etc.” - Wikipedia

Well, if you are from UK then let me suggest a name that is one of the leading providers of Dedicated Servers in UK. DedicatedServerWarehouse.com is solely dedicated in providing the best Dedicated Servers out there to customers. Right now they are offering 3 dedicated hosting packages, namely:

1.      Dedicated 2008 VALUE
Dedicated Hosting from £49.99 per month

  • Intel Server System
  • 1 x Core2 Duo 1.8GHz
  • 512MB RAM (Upgradeable)
  • 1×80GB SATA hard disk (Upgradeable)
  • CPU power - CPS 3 Stars
  • 100GB Traffic

2.      Dedicated 2008 EXTRA
Dedicated Hosting from £89.99 per month

  • Dell
  • Dual Core Xeon 2.3Ghz CPU
  • 1GB RAM (Upgradeable)
  • 1×80GB SATA hard disk (Upgradeable)
  • CPU power - CPU 4 Stars
  • 250GB Traffic

3.      Dedicated 2008 PRO
Dedicated Hosting from £149.99 per month

  • HP Proliant DL360G5
  • Quad Core Xeon 2.33Ghz CPU (Upgradeable)
  • 2GB RAM (Upgradeable)
  • 1×146GB SAS hard disk (Upgradeable)
  • CPU power - CPU 5 Stars
  • Unlimited traffic

Dedicated hosting services are pretty expensive but at this Dedicated Hosting UK, they have put their price really competitive along with maintaining quality service. You can compare the prices and select the features that best suit your needs. They do have other sister brands too for VPS Server Hosting or Colocation Web Hosting Services.

ps3.jpg

I won a free iPod lately but all I can think of is freebies since then. What more can I get for free and what do I have to do for that? Questions like these swirl around my head whenever I surf over the net. And now that I believe in advertisers really giving out free stuffs for doing small things and my luck too at the other end, this has really changed my habit. Even when I’m out shopping and when I see something that I really like, instead of bargaining the price and buying them I’m thinking if I can get it for free for completing some offers in the net. I’ve actually become greedyJ. But what’s the hell and why shouldn’t I be? As I’ve said before ‘why to pay when you can get it for free’, isn’t it?

My next target is a PS3 which I actually saw over a friend’s house but when I went to a shop to buy it (actually I just went to find out the price tag), they over-rated the price and I had to walk out. So, when I was back home I started checking out over the net to finally have come across a site which was giving out free PS3, free Nintendo Wii, free Wii Fit, free Xbox 360 Elite and other cool free stuffs. It was also referral marketing, same as before. All I had to do was complete an offer and then refer to some of my friends who I thought will take it seriously and complete their offers. Just that much and you are in and have a chance to win a PS3 or other cool stuffs for absolutely free. Let’s see if I win it. If I don’t, free Wii isn’t bad either.

seo_web_marketing.jpgA friendly reminder that, ‘Just putting up a website is not enough. It has to be able to attract the targeted customers.’ I have dropped this line many times in my previous articles too not because this is my favorite quote or something like that but because this is the truth of internet marketing.

Search Engine Optimization plays a vital role in driving the targeted customer to your website. But the same SEO if done in a wrong way greatly hampers your website optimization.

Still, unaware of what SEO is?

Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the volume and quality of traffic to a web site from search engines via “natural” (”organic” or “algorithmic”) search results for targeted keywords.” - Wikipedia

I did a lot of research and though I found out many sites that pointed out the SEO mistakes still I thought of listing some of the most common ones for my readers to avoid. After all you learn from your mistakes.

  • Wrong selection of the title – The title should be unique and attractive as it is the first thing the search engine crawlers encounter when they visit your web page.
  • Wrong selection of the keywords – A web page is usually optimized for certain keywords. If the keyword selection is bad, then all your efforts to attract the targeted customers will go down in vain.
  • Wrong selection of the niche – You have to know which niche you are targeting. With wrong market selection you’ll be choosing wrong keywords and this will lad to misplaced search engine campaigns.
  • Wrong or insufficient content – The content has to be unique. Duplicate contents hamper your SERPs. Also, the content has to enough and worthy for your targeted niche.
  • Use of excessive keywords – There is a fallacy among people that use of excessive keywords increases their chance of getting ranked high. Well, in some search engines it can get you blacklisted.
  • Wrong linking strategy – There is again disbelief that linking increases your ranking. To some extent it is true but excessive linking in wrong way (buying links, linking to wrong niche) makes a negative impact in your ranking.

These are some of the most common SEO mistakes that I felt I need to focus on but these are not all. There may be numerous others too. So, it’s always a better thing to try avoiding these mistakes during SEO. Still, if you think you are not the right person to do this, then you can always seek for a professional help to do SEO of your website.

I’ve always loved freebies. Well, who doesn’t? Even If I got money to pay for that thing, still I would prefer a discount but a free stuff is even more preferable. I mean why would anyone ever pay for anything if he/she can get it for free, isn’t it? This has always been my motto and this is why I’m constantly looking for free stuffs over the internet.

iphone-for-fre.jpgFew months ago, I visited a link which was passed to me by a very dear friend of mine and it was about winning a free iPhone. It was basically referral marketing which I did mentioned in an article named Get an IPHONE For Free too. All I had to do was complete an online offers and then refer it my friends (An iPod Shuffle would typically require just two referrals) who are again willing to complete the offers. This way I’d be eligible to win a free Apple iPhone. I did so but at that time I wasn’t pretty much sure if I’d ever win an iPhone for free or if I even had an chance. All the time I thought that it’s all fake and I didn’t quite believed it. But is it sheer luck or God really loves me or what, just a couple of day ago an iPhone knocked at my doorstep. I was the lucky winner to win a free Apple iPhone. Yeppie !!! The iPhone was all mine. I didn’t have to pay anything, no contracts, no nothing.

The joy is so overwhelming and how can I not share my joy with my readers. If you too want an iPhone but don’t have money to pay for it, you’ve come to the right place folks. Just complete some offers and refer to your mates. Who knows, next knock on your doorstep might be an iPhone.

I have written about online storage and back up provider IBackup a couple of months ago in the post titled Online Storage and Backup. Briefly, online storage means storing your data online somewhere in remote servers so that it can be retrieved anywhere anytime and even in cases your data is lost in your PC, it can be backed up from the online source. IBackup as I’ve already mentioned in my previous post is a leading online Storage and backup for small businesses.

Recent enhancements include ‘IBackup for Mac’ which is a desktop client build for Mac. But the latest news is that IBackup has been optimized for the iPhone device too with its introduction of ILite. It’s the newest feature that has been added by IBackup just for handheld devices like iPhone, Blackberry, PocketPC and Treo. With ILite, you can access and share data while on the move using your iPhone and other handheld devices. This way it’s much more flexible than before as you are even able to download and open your word, excel and text files and view images in your iPhone, Blackberry or whatever. Cool!!! Huh? I think so too. You can just browse ilite.com on your handheld device and login to your IBackup account to access your data. Easy as it can get.

ILite features:

  • Easy navigation between folders
  • Provision to share your files/folders with associates
  • Provision for your associates to view the shared files/folders on their iPhone/handheld devices

ringtone_woman_left.jpg

When mobile was invented or even better imagined, the first person who invented it or thought about it the first time, even he never must have imagined in his wildest dreams that mobiles will ever reach the heights and popularity that it has reached now. Today mobiles have grown up into full-fledge multi-purpose gadget in which you can listen to music, see and capture photos and record videos, surf over the internet, keep schedules of your daily task, chat with friends, transfer files and do numerous other things. Why mobile were actually built was to make phones portable & movable but it has come a long way than just being a movable communicating device in your pocket.

One of the essential and attractive things that your mobile carries in my view is ringtones. I am just crazy for ringtones. I’ve got some of the craziest ringtones in my cell phone and I’ve assigned different tones for different peopleJ.

Anyways, I don’t want to discuss on their types and how they are created. If you wantringtones.gif such details you can simply download some ringtone making software over the net and then start making your own ringtones. Mobile Music Polyphonic, AVS Audio Tools 4.3 are some of the ringtone making and converting s/ws. But my view is that why to even bother on something when there are professional scratching their head already on it. Making ringtones is quite a tedious task. Instead, there are so many sites that are allowing you to download ringtones for you mobile phones, often free. People frequently complain that they couldn’t find the tones for their brand or carrier. Well good news for them, I just caught up this site called MyRingtonesHub.com from where you can choose and download ringtones and ringback tones for almost all the brands and carriers; even ringtones for iPhones which are usually hard to find. So, live my theory. Let the geeks do the work. You just enjoy your ringtones.
